Arrow Lee - A Breech Baby Cesarean Birth - Olathe Medical Center
Every single birth is different…there are no two births exactly the same. Sometimes, birth doesn’t go how you envisioned it, or planned it, or even hoped for it go.. but that is part of the beauty of birth, its what brings a uniqueness to your story.

When I first talked with Amber about capturing the birth of her first baby, I knew that she was someone who not only valued photography, and saw the importance of having their birth documented, but also valued the birth experience. She had a vision of what she wanted the birth of her daughter to look like. When she found out that her baby girl was in the breech position, and wouldn’t turn, although saddened, she made the best of the situation, and still wanted the moment to be captured in its beauty. She scheduled her c-section and prepared for the day she was going to meet her baby.

I walked into Olathe Medical Center, where I met Codey, Amber’s husband. We then walked together back to Labor & Delivery Pre-Op, where Amber was waiting for us. I could tell by her face that there were so many feelings rushing over her. She was so excited to meet her baby, but also having some nerves and anxiety about the procedure.
We talked, gave her some encouraging words, and they took her back to get her ready.
Something not many people may know about c-sections, is they really are a fairly quick procedure as long as everything is normal without complications. Once mom is all prepped to begin, baby is typically born within 10-15 minutes. And it takes about 30 minutes to close mom back up and get them into recovery.
Codey and I were brought back to the OR as soon as Amber was all prepped. Amber laid with Codey by her side, holding her hand, and rubbing her arm for comfort as they waited for their daughter to be born.
At 7:55 am, Arrow Lee was born.
Happy.. Healthy.. Perfect.. and so LOVED..

So much love filled the OR, Amber was on cloud nine, finally seeing her baby girl and taking her all in. There is nothing more precious than witnessing the immediate bond between mother and child.
