The Fast Homebirth of Holland - Kansas City Birth Story

Every single birth is so so different, but this mama knows her body and how she births. When I first began chatting with Katrina about the possibility of coming to capture the home birth of her third baby - her first daughter - she told me right off the bat that she goes from 0-100 QUICK… and boy was she right.

On May 9th, at around 2:50am I got the call that she was in labor and I immediately jumped out of bed, threw on my clothes, grabbed my bag and hopped in my car to head their way. They lived about 40 minutes away from me, but thankfully it was the middle of the night and there was no traffic on the Thursday morning.

I walked in their bedroom right when Katrina delivered her baby girl and started clicking away to capture every detail I could. She was born at 3:28am… not even an hour after I got their phone call!

Holland… 8lbs 4oz of perfection!

After things began to settle down, the family decided to separate Holland from the placenta by cord burning ceremony. It was such a special moment and really had so much meaning and love behind it. It was the perfect end to a beautiful birth.
